What's Your Brand's Narrative?
Do you have a narrative for your brand? And do you know the audience you're speaking to?
It is no secret that Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, and all other forms of digital/social media are changing the game for individuals and small business daily. But do you know why and how you can use it to empower what you are doing?
We are in the midst of a small business revolution and we don't even know it. Over the past ten years the rate at which technology has changed our lives is astounding and yet most people don't even know what to do with it. Phones, mobile devices, virtual reality, and more have started shaping the landscape of how people, companies, and brands communicate in a way that was unheard of prior. The idea that one individual with a phone camera and some creative ideas can grab a national audience is still something I am working to grasp. The challenge in all that is knowing how it applies to you, your brand, and what your company is doing.
So what can you do to start to understand?
First ask yourself a few questions:
1) What are you selling? I don't mean a house, a car, products or services. I mean what type of an experience are you selling, giving, promoting with those products?
2) Who are you selling it to? Get detailed on this so you can get clear (Age, income, gender, family size, lifestyle, hobbies, etc.). The more clear you get the more targeted you can be.
3) What do they want to know first when they start looking for what you have? What's the first question or conversation they have when they're starting to look for you? This will be the bait to get your brand and business in front of them first.
If you can answer those three questions, you are on the right track. You will be able to narrow things down to an age group, an income, and/or a pain point for the buyer. You will also have the starting point where they want to start learning more and that's where we step in to help you answer that. From here you can shape content, talk to your audience, even target them with paid media. And the beauty is you can be the smallest business in town and have the same power as the biggest. That is if you know what your doing.
One such example is Sam Kaplunov (see his video here) a local real estate agent in the Detroit area who's using the creation of digital content to shape his brand. Sam came to us at Endless Media with an interest of talking to the basics for his buyers and sellers. What came of it were two powerful piece of content that he now uses to drive his brand and narrative forward. Today when buyers are interested in Sam's work they know where to find it (watch video here).
